We must receive a referral prior to booking your appointment. Visit your regular GP to obtain a referral for your child or have another specialist issue one for you (such as a paediatrician, psychiatrist etc).
Once we receive your child's referral, it will be triaged according to urgency and you will be contacted to arrange an appointment time.
Please bring your Medicare card, private health card and any previous specialist reports or relevant medical imaging to your first appointment.
What's an EEG (electroencephalogram)?
An EEG is a test that measures electrical activity in the brain using small, metal discs (electrodes) attached to the scalp. Brain cells communicate via electrical impulses and are active all the time, even during sleep. This activity shows up as wavy lines on an EEG recording.
An EEG is one of the main diagnostic tests for epilepsy, and can also play a role in diagnosing other brain disorders.
EEGs are safe and painless. Your child will feel little or no discomfort during an EEG, as the electrodes don't transmit any sensations - they just record brain waves.
